About Quotera

Software for service businesses, built by people who actually run them.

Not by consultants, VCs, or engineers who’ve never set foot in a shop.

Our story

How Quotera started.

“Built by a shop, not for a pitch deck.”
Jim Halligan, Co-founder

Quotera started with a mobile mechanic who hated his software.

Jim ran Elite Mobile Auto Repair, driving job to job, fixing cars in customers’ driveways. Before that, he’d worked in other shops. By the time he had a customer base of his own, he was drowning in paperwork while trying to do what he was actually good at: fixing cars and taking care of customers. The shop-management software he was paying $300+ a month for wasn’t helping. It was clunky, overpriced, and built by people who’d clearly never spent a single Saturday morning behind a service counter.

Joey, a software engineer Jim had known since middle school, kept hearing about it. One day he took a closer look at the software Jim was paying for and found security holes you could drive a truck through. That was the first crack. Then they asked the obvious question: what if we just built our own?

What started as a side project turned into late nights, weekend phone calls, and a lot of conversations with shop owners who’d been asking themselves the same things Jim had. They were usually paying way more than they should for software that made their day harder.

Today, Quotera is small. We’re early-stage, building deliberately with the first wave of shops who switched to us. If you’re on board, you’re shaping what comes next. We answer when you call. We listen when you tell us something’s broken. And we charge a fraction of what the incumbents do, because that’s what shop software should cost.

What we’re about

Why Quotera is built the way it is.

Two people, no investors, and a list of things real shops told us were broken. That shapes every decision we make.

Built from a list of complaints, not a roadmap.

There’s no product manager here inventing features. Every one exists because a shop owner told us what was broken, starting with Jim and his own shop.

Small on purpose. You’re not customer #50,000.

We’re early, and we build deliberately with the first shops who switched to us. If you’re here, you’re shaping what Quotera becomes next.

Priced like shop software should be.

A fraction of what the incumbents charge, on purpose. $300 a month for clunky software is the exact thing we set out to fix.

We answer to shops, not investors.

No VCs, no board pushing us to chase enterprise logos or jack up the price. The people paying us are the only ones we build for.

The team

Meet Jim & Joey.

The two of us. That’s the whole company.
